Vehicle Accident with Entrapment – Frankford Yesterday morning at approximately 03:24 hours, the Frankford Vol. Fire Co was alerted for a reported two-vehicle collision involving a rollover with entrapment on Route 113, just south of Lazy Lagoon Road in Frankford. * 03:33 hours – Station 88 was alerted to assist. Sussex County EMS Medics and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 2 were also responding. * First-arriving units located two heavily damaged vehicles, with one occupant trapped. * Command declared a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident (MCI), prompting the dispatch of additional ambulances to the scene. * Firefighters worked quickly to extricate the trapped patient while EMS personnel evaluated multiple other occupants. * 03:44 hours – The trapped patient was successfully extricated from the vehicle. The priority patient was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. All remaining occupants declined medical transport. The incident remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police. DelDOT and Delaware State Fire Police from both Station 88 and Station 76 assisted in shutting down DuPont Blvd for an extended period for DSP. 📸 Photos by Firefighter Jared Lathbury (Station 88).

Motor Vehicle Collision with Entrapment – Bishopville At approximately 11:58 hours, Station 88 was alerted to assist multiple agencies with a serious motor vehicle collision involving entrapment at the intersection of Route 113 and Jarvis Road in Bishopville. Rescue Engine 88-4 & Ambulance C-88 responded to assist. * Initial reports indicated four patients requiring EMS evaluation. * 12:00 hours: A second medical helicopter was requested due to the severity of the incident. * 12:03 hours: Command advised that three patients were in critical condition, with tourniquets applied to two patients as part of life-saving care. * Rescue Engine 88-4 established two landing zones at the Granite Memorial Mausoleum in Bishopville to facilitate the safe arrival and departure of both medical helicopters. * C-88 assisted with patient care but did not transport any patients. Station 88 worked alongside surrounding fire, EMS, and law enforcement agencies to provide patient care and support operations during this complex incident. We wish all those involved a full and speedy recovery.

At approximately 22:13 hours, station 88 was alerted for a reported dumpster fire in the area of 48 Cemetery Road, Selbyville. - First arriving found a dumpster well-involved with exposures to trees and a vehicle. - Crews quickly extinguished the fire with a booster line off of engine 88-4.

Structure Fire Response – Frankford At approximately 00:14 hours, Stations 76 and 73 were dispatched to the area of Blueberry Lane in Frankford for a reported structure fire. The caller reported that the building had been struck by lightning. At 00:20 hours, 76-15 arrived on scene and requested the full box alarm, bringing additional resources from Stations 88 and 79 to assist. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire, preventing further extension and bringing the incident under control in a short amount of time. Crews remained on scene to conduct overhaul operations and ensure all remaining hot spots were extinguished. Motor Vehicle Collision – Cemetery Road & Route 113 At approximately 21:45 hours, Station 88 was dispatched for a reported head-on motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Cemetery Road and Route 113. Captain 88-20 arrived on scene and established command advised of three possible patients involved. EMS personnel evaluated all patients while fire crews worked to secure the scene and clear roadway debris. The incident was quickly brought under control. One patient was transported to South Coastal ER for further evaluation and treatment. Fire Police remained on scene to assist Selbyville Police with traffic control until the tow truck(s) arrived to clear the roadway. 📸 Photo Credit: FF Luke Turner

At approximately 19:33 hours, Station 88 was alerted to establish a helicopter landing zone for Delaware State Police Aviation Section Trooper 2 and Sussex County Department of Public Safety Paramedics during a medical emergency involving a patient requiring air transport to Christiana Hospital. Ambulance B-88 was originally alerted for a subject fallen and was on scene and assessed the patient and requested aviation and paramedics to respond. Crews quickly secured the landing zone to ensure safe operations for the flight crew and EMS personnel. We would like to thank all responding agencies for their teamwork and professionalism during the incident

At approximately 01:00 hours, stations 83, 73, and 76 were alerted for a reported structure fire on York Cir, Millsboro. First arriving units found a multi-residential building with heavy fire showing. 01:12 - Station 77 requested. 01:15 - Station 88 requested. Millsboro command requesting 2nd alarm response. Additional agencies alerted: 80, 79, 90, 81. 01:23 - Evacuation tones set off - Heavy fire still showing. Crews eventually gained control of the fire throughout the night, no injuries reported. Yesterday at approximately 15:11 hours, Station 88 was alerted to assist 76 and 73 on an outside fire at Eastern Shore Forestry Products. While brush units and crews were controlling the fire, tanker & engine companies established a water refill station at the Frankford Vol. Fire Co to transport water to the scene. Great work from everyone involved.

At approximately 16:50 hours, Captain 88-20 was in the area of the 32000 block of Lighthouse Rd when he noticed a landscaping trailer on fire in the backyard of a residence with no homeowners around at the time of the incident. Sussex EOC alerted Stations 88, Roxana (90) Frankford (76) & Bishopville (900) for a Structure fire response due to exposures to a detached garage and the home. 88-20 reduced the assignments to 88 units only, before the arrival of the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company, nearby neighbors quickly stepped in and assisted with extinguishing the fire, helping to keep it from spreading further. Great teamwork and community effort by everyone involved.
